Enhancing the Communities We Serve
As a global company, Bayer’s social commitment is illustrated by some 300 projects in various parts of the world, many of which we have organized and financed for many years. In partnership with other divisions of Bayer HealthCare and the larger Bayer organization, Consumer Care supports a range of social initiatives focused on education and research, health and social needs and cultural initiatives. As a division, we are committed to harnessing our unique resources—both financial and human—to contribute to the best interests of consumers, partners, our employees and communities around the world. We seek to make a positive impact—not only in terms of innovative ideas and brand breakthroughs—but also through our actions and charitable giving efforts.
The success of Bayer as a business is firmly grounded in its leadership in developing people around the world, caring for our communities and respecting the world we live in:
- Funding strategic business initiaitves that address important public health issues such as the ongoing Canesten® “Taking Care of Me, Thinking of You” campaign focused on women’s health in Mexico and Bayer-sponsored cardiovascular health awarness programs in local communities across Europe and the U.S. help to save lives around the world.
- Bayer Consumer Care actively works to promote educational initiatives including the award-winning Making Science Make Sense program started in the U.S. and focused on advancing science literacy through hands-on, inquiry-based learning through grants, employee volunteerism and public education. Schoolchildren in a total of 10 countries are now benefiting from the commitment of Bayer employees who visit schools to demonstrate the aims and benefits of science education.
- In partnership with other Bayer Divisons, we provide coordinated disaster-aid relief through employee volunteerism and company-sponsored financial support for international humanitarian relief organizations such as World Health Organization and American Red Cross.
- Cultural activities are also at the center of our social commitment in communities near our sites. Our enduring commitment to the fine arts is exemplified in our ongoing partnerships with the Fondation Beyeler located in Riehen, Switzerland and the Morris Museum in the United States.
